Located on the beautiful south shore of Lake Superior, the Chequamegon Bay’s many lakes, rivers, and vast woodlands provide outdoor enthusiasts with the perfect place to live and work. During the summer months residents enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, and paddle boarding (just to name a few). Summers also mean exploring local waterfalls, outdoor concerts, farmers markets, and long days lounging on the beautiful beaches of Lake Superior. During the winter months, our Chequamegon Bay is transformed into a winter wonderland of pristine ice and snow landscape. The winter opens the door to even more outdoor opportunities to explore the region in ways not possibly during the summer. Ice fishing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, snowmobiling, and on the very lucky years—exploring the beautiful Sea Caves are what make winters magical on the Chequamegon Bay. People flock from around the world every year to walk on water during our annual Book Across the Bay, a 10k ski/snowshoe/walk across the frozen Chequamegon Bay. The small town feel brings together the community to provide a great place to live, work, and play.
